Below are my thoughts on each of these three major areas that I looked at beginning Jan. 2. 2026. I’m keeping in mind enhancing/”tweaking” my emphasis on lifestyle, generally on a daily basis, such as food, mindset, and sleep to stay ahead of the follicular lymphoma.
I take into account that the presenter/author can be prejudiced, take a certain position and finding data to support their position, especially if there is money involved. That said, I also maintain that I don’t know everything and learning continues throughout life and so have looked into these areas.
FaceBook groups
I started looking at cancer related FaceBook groups for about two years. The following groups are generally well administered providing a space for respectful and supportive information. They provide emotional support, sharing experiences and offer helpful resources. No spamming, trolling, or harassment nor fundraising campaigns or soliciting donations are permitted. Also, they don’t allow selling or promoting drugs, treatment and/or products. Nor is medical advice or recommend specific treatments accepted.
I have contributed to several of these on my experiences. This includes getting different diagnoses from different laboratory examinations on the same biopsy sample; that both biopsies of my DLBCL had two different diagnosis, depending on the lab, and two different diagnoses of the single sample biopsy for my follicular lymphoma. I’ll also note that my symptoms don’t always follow what is reported in the description of the particular cancer. I do emphasize, for me, my “therapy” of integrative medicine, lifestyle, being positive and moving forward in the face of the unknown mixed with western medical treatments including radiation, chemo and surgery that I am living a flourishing wellbeing life. I do not spend an inordinate amount of time reading the posts but frequently reflect how fortunate I have been in my cancer and health experience.
I have joined the following FaceBook groups:
- Cancer Awareness Group
- fuck cancer
- Cancer Support Group for All
- Support Survivors of Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma
- Lymphoma cancer Support Group Share Best Treatment Information
- LYMPHOMA CANCER SUPPORT GROUP
- Diffuse Large BCell Lymphoma Support Group (DLBCL)
- Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma Support
- Double/Triple Hit Diffuse Large B-Cell Lymphoma
- Lymphoma High grade B Cell Support Group
- Living with Follicular Lymphoma
YouTube
The world seems to VERY full of people putting out their thoughts and certainly for profit. I use YouTube as a kinda “catalog” of ideas that I may or may not agree with. For me, I find reading books and articles to get the subject I’m trying to better learn the subject works better than time listening to someone talking. That might just the way my mind/learning works but also feel I can catch the important point reading versus listening to dialog. I limit how much time I spend on listening on YouTube for health as that entails picking up the computer and there is life out there to be lived.
Hospice Nurse Julie
I found her talking about when people are dying can vary, some diseases patients can drop in steps while others, like cancer, can be an even slow decline. That brought up the feeling that I had with the low spots 2021-23; I was scared to go for a walk as I didn’t think I had the strength to get up if I had fallen but did walk because I knew it would benefit me.
Dr. William Li
He has a series [yea, making money] that set forth the health benefits of certain food being good medicine. I have seen that with Dr. Dean Ornish and his food and lifestyle change. I guess it is nice to hear the similar/same thing from a different source, a different way of saying the same thing.
Websites that grew out of best-selling books:
It is my belief that my using the information that came out of their respective books is very encompassing and do not require “enhancement”. Both of these are examples of monetization of their books. They have good information in a marid of education modules and have brought in other providers as a part of their product. I question the value of the added time and money to take the customer to a better level than doing their work on their own. That said, there can be advantage to be in community with others to better enhance implementing the material. The “services” they provide many or may not be worth the cost. I find trying to deeply understand the science helps me to have the information become within me that turns into a habit that translates to action on an ongoing basis. Learning is not fully beneficial unless it turned into action and action is easier if it is IN me. Maybe that is why I don’t make new year resolutions because they would fade with time AND every day is the opportunity for a new beginning if it is a part of my being.
I was a bit surprised when I saw a re-run of an interview in 60 MINUTES with Dr. Attia and that he still doesn’t put sufficient emphasis on the mind as part of the impact on the mind-body wellbeing. Looking at the intro to each of his eight LESSONS re-emphasizes that I put much more emphasis on the mind in overall well-being than he does. This includes today my receiving an opportunity to buy an additional “LESSON” which addressed comparing short high intensity exercise with extended low intensity exercise. The summary of this offering revealed an appropriate mix of exercise routines was best and I didn’t need to purchase the additional information to arrive at this conclusion.
I think it very important that I not only learn what is best for me but that I can implement as a habit that becomes an ongoing part of my wellbeing. Knowledge is impotent unless it is implemented; therefore, I try to make implementation easy.

OUTLIVE Home – Peter Attia noting that, to me, he doesn’t put sufficient understanding of the effect of the mind on the body.
