Attitude makes a difference.
Look online and find:
attitude noun
And the first thing you’ll see is something like this:
the particular way a person thinks or feels about something or someone
My own example is when I was 15 years old, I lost part of my left foot to a rotary power lawnmower. It really “cut” into my dance lessons. I was in the hospital for almost a week and on crutches for a total of 14 weeks. They were not sure about my ability to return to walking. There was an overarching feeling of uncertainty. But certainly, a positive attitude helped me to act on what could have been an impediment to “normal” walking. There is sometimes pain from that accident, but it has not stopped me from dancing regularly. It is an “imperfection” that does not stop me from living fully. When I bike ride, I put more of the arch of the foot on the pedal instead of the front of the foot.
I don’t care to have a “self-fulfilling prophecy”, unless it is positive. And attitude is important in considering this indolent/“incurable” cancer. It takes a certain “assertiveness” to stick to my lifestyle, especially when it comes to what I eat versus what is available when socializing with hosts and guests. At the same time, I can be a role model for what a positive lifestyle can provide. Not always easy as when we are tired and in a rush, it is a time that we are more apt to “slide” from the lifestyle. In what appears in the short term the “easy out”, more satisfying route, can lead to detrimental consequences, sooner or later. Perseverance is an attribute to be fostered, but probably better “quietly”.
